West Hill School
West Hill School is a Community Special School with Specialist College status for children with learning difficulties and Autism aged from 11 to 16 years.
As part of our Specialism we decided to increase our horticultural provision and started to develop the site at the rear of the school. In January we were approached by the North Leatherhead Community Group who wanted to join forces with us to create a community garden. The school are extremely pleased to be involved with this project which brings together both school community and the wider local community.
The Community Garden organise and run a Family Learning Day for the students and their families to join the volunteers in the Garden. These are well attended and always end with a lovely lunch!
The school has recently employed one of our fine volunteers to run a horticulture course during the spring and summer months of the school year. This has helped involve the Community Garden further into West Hill School.
