What are we up to?
We constructed a fruit cage frame back in 2011 but it was too late in the season to plant anything in there. We are now ready to start planting at the end of March to fill the fruit cage with fruit! With the help of Leatherhead Residents' Association, we have bid for money from the Green Mole Forum to help fund the buying of the berry plants. Why have we got a fruit cage? The fruit cage prevents birds from eating our fruit crop before we do! It will allow us to grow some new berry fruits that we have never tried before. It provides the Garden with a useful feature and resource. How can you help? Join us on Saturday 24th March for some hands on helping. We will be planting the berry bushes as well as driving in some stakes to support them during their growth. Full training will be provided along with plenty of tea and biscuits! |
