![]() Well it started off very rainy! It soon brightened up and we got on with measuring the Garden so that we can draw a plan of where things will be planted next year. We also spread some seeds on an unused patch of land to create a meadow for the springtime. This will be great for bees and butterflies :) Lastly we filled up the big bottle seed feeders for the birds. A great end to a busy year! ![]() Well, with the help of Sam and his van (plus Molly the dog!), we managed to do a few trips to a local stable and relieved them of some horse manure. When we got it back to the Garden it was still steaming! We all helped empty it on to the fruit cage floor and spread it around. Now all we need to do is wait for it to rot down and then plant our fruit plants :) We also found time to fill up all our bird feeders as many of them had been completely eaten! This is a good sign that we are helping local wildlife :) Next week is our last meeting of 2011! ![]() Edward Gent has written a fine article on the Garden this week in the Leatherhead Advertiser. We really enjoyed meeting him last Saturday! READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE! ![]() YAY! Two new signs up in the Garden! One at the front gate and another next to the chicken cage. The chickens enjoyed helping to dig out the holes to put them in! We also constructed and filled two new beds in the polytunnel and added two compost bins behind the tool shed. Edd from the Leatherhead Advertiser joined us this week. As part the the "Step Up" campaign run by the newspaper, he spent a day with us volunteering. He was with us bright and early and didn't leave until right at the end! Thank you Edd! |
