Fantastic news! We got 4 vegetable beds dug out! Simon marked out all the areas for the beds with spray paint to start with. Jim Gosling and his digger skillfully loaded up the wheelbarrows whilst we tipped the contents away. It is really is exciting to see the garden developing so quickly.
On other news, tomatoes and bean plants were put into bigger pots, herbs were plants and the radishes thined out for a better crop. New members, Chris and Barrie, worked very hard to get as many new seeds sown. They also treated us to burgers as their wasn't many of us!
The bean plants may go into the bean bed next week so I started on a weaved willow climber for them to grow up.
Looking forward to the rest of the beds being dug out :)
Look at our photos in the Picture Gallery.
Ta ta for now,

Hi all! Had a great time at the Community Garden yesterday. Ruth was with us again to do some more work on the weaved tree. It is really starting to fill out. Kyle and I started on a weaved williow wigwam for the bean bed. We plan to have three wigwams joined together by archways.

Compost was brought so Pat and the kids planted sunflowers, spring onions and melons. The melons seeds were huge but Pat managed to loose one in the pot!
The sweetcorn that was planted last week are doing really well. This is one vegetable I'm really looking forward to eating!

Next week will be so busy. Simon has hired a mini digger and will be putting the beds together in the garden! So much help will be needed to help shift soil.
Check out the photos in the Picture Gallery.

Wigwams and weaving!

Claire and I were very impressed with ourselves when we completed our first weaved willow wigwam to grow peas on. We had renowned artist, Ruth Wheeler, come to the garden to show us weaving techniques. All the children had a go!

Philip and Earl put the mesh around the fruit cage. It is looking a little wonky at the moment put they assure us that they will get it straight next week!

Everyone else pottered about watering the potatoes, adding to the compost bins and transfering radishes from pot to vegetable bed.

Check out the pictures from the weekend in the Gallery. There is also a link to Ruth's website on our links page. Kayleigh :)
